Day 1: Bengaluru — Garden City First Impressions
Landed in Bengaluru early morning. The air felt fresh, with jacaranda trees blooming along the roads.
Checked into a budget boutique hotel near MG Road — perfect location to walk and explore.
Spent the morning at Cubbon Park, watching early risers and kids playing cricket.
Stopped by Vidhana Soudha for classic photos of the majestic building.
In the evening, sipped filter coffee at an old-school Darshini and browsed through Commercial Street for street shopping.
Small thing: Had my first dose of piping hot idli-vada dipped in thick coconut chutney — divine.
Day 2: Nandi Hills Sunrise & Local Life
Woke up at 4 am to catch the sunrise at Nandi Hills. The ride was chilly — carry a light jacket.
The view of the mist rolling over the hills was worth every minute. Locals were selling fresh chai and bonda — a must-try!
Stopped by a nearby vineyard on the way back. Sipped on local wine while watching the vines — who knew Bengaluru had wine tours?
Small thing: Bought some fresh grapes from roadside vendors to snack on later.
Day 3: Mysuru — Palaces & Sandalwood
Took a comfortable train to Mysuru. Checked into a heritage stay near the Mysore Palace.
Explored the palace — the stained glass, grand halls, and lit-up façade at night were magical.
In the evening, walked around the Devaraja Market — picked up Mysore Pak and sandalwood oil.
Small thing: Watched flower sellers string fresh jasmine garlands. The smell stayed with me all day.
Day 4: Coorg — Coffee Estates & Waterfalls
Early bus to Coorg (Kodagu). The ride through the Western Ghats was all mist, forests, and pepper plantations.
Stayed at a cozy homestay amid coffee estates — the host brewed the freshest cup of coffee I’ve ever tasted.
Hiked to Abbey Falls and spent the evening birdwatching at the estate.
Small thing: Learned to pluck ripe coffee berries — felt like living in a postcard.
Day 5: Coorg — Dubare Elephant Camp & Madikeri Fort
Visited Dubare Elephant Camp early to see the elephants bathing in the river — surreal!
Explored Madikeri Fort and the Raja’s Seat for panoramic sunset views.
Lunch was a plate of Pandi Curry (Coorgi pork curry) with Akki Roti — spicy, earthy, and filling.
Small thing: Got invited for homemade Coorg wine tasting by the host — warmest hospitality ever.
Day 6: Hampi — Ruins & Boulders
Took an overnight train to Hospet, then a rickshaw to Hampi. The surreal boulder landscape and ancient ruins blew my mind.
Rented a bicycle to explore Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple, and the stone chariot.
Sat by the Tungabhadra River at sunset, watching coracle boats drift by.
Small thing: A local guide narrated fascinating stories of the Vijayanagara Empire — made the stones come alive.
Day 7: Gokarna — Beach Vibes & Cliffs
Ended my Karnataka loop with a lazy day in Gokarna. Checked into a simple beach hut right on Om Beach.
Did the famous Gokarna Beach Trek from Om Beach to Half Moon and Paradise Beach — the cliffs and hidden coves were stunning.
Dinner at a shack: grilled fish, chapati, and fresh lime soda.
Small thing: Found a perfect spot under a palm tree, just listening to the waves and scribbling in my journal.
